About What We Do & How
We Got Here
LKF Makelaars is a financial services provider with one leg in the Southern Cape, and one leg in the Boland. We were founded in 1998 by Leon Lamprecht (RIP) and Koos Fourie (RIP).
The business was initially known as LKF Makelaars, before it started trading under Excelsus Makelaars, and later Eplan Invest. With the passing of both of the founding members, the remaining members decided to return the CC to its original name, as a tribute to the founding members, without whom we would not be where we are.
The seagull was chosen as a symbol because seagulls are resourceful and curious. They are adaptable to their environment, depending on the situation. A seagull, high in flight, is also for us the epitome of freedom, and for our context, financial freedom. Finally, it also grounds us in our place of origin, namely Mossel Bay.

We want to create holistic, robust and adaptable financial plans for our clients, to help them to achieve financial freedom. We bat for our customers.
Vision
Good customer service and honesty are non-negotiable for us. We want to empower our customers to make the right financial decisions at the right times, so that one day they will be financially free can retire Or, if the worst happens, they are well hedged against the (un)avoidable risks.
Mission
We are not a mega-firm, and have no desire to become one. We would rather walk the path to financial freedom with fewer customers, on whom we can fully focus. LKF Makelaars is a generational business (Leon Lamprecht was one of the current members’ father), we would like to assist our clients’ children with their financial decisions as well.

LKF Makelaars is owned and operated by Hannes Harmse, Leon-Ben Lamprecht and Marretha Singleton.
Hannes Harmse
Financial Advisor
Hannes has been in the industry for more than 15 years, the first five of which was with Old Mutual. He holds a certificate in financial planning, and studied at PUK. He has played rugby in France. Hannes focuses on investments, long-term insurance and medical aids. His nickname is “Happy”. Please ask him why.
Leon-Ben Lamprecht
Financial Adivisor
Leon-Ben is a award winning journalist who made the jump to financial services in 2014. He did five years’ service at Sanlam, before joining LKF Makelaars in 2019. He holds a B.Com degree, as well as a Masters degree (the latter in journalism) from the Stellenbosch University, as well as a post-grad diploma in financial planning from the USB. He lives with his wife and three kids in Wellington and writes music and children’s books in his free time.
Marretha Singleton
Office Manager
Marretha is the glue keeping everything together. She is the office manager, and handles all the administration of LKF Makelaars’ medical aids. She is born and bred in Mossel Bay, and has been with the firm since 2004. She is a former secretary to the FIA in the Southern Cape, and also holds a black belt in Goju- Ruy-karate.
